A Soulful Performance on Namami Gange by Sakshi Students
SAKSHi NGO’s Girl Education Project, ensures continued education till graduation from school for girls at the bottom of the economically deprived pyramid. We were fortunate to find in Guru Rashmi Raut Jaiswal, a nurturer of abilities and an empathetic heart to understand the many special needs of our girls. The girls training under her performed like troupers despite having the stress of a board exam the same day. The audience in PHD auditorium witnessed Their brilliant performance “Namami Gange”, Many thanks to all who made it possible….Rashmi ji, her diligent disciples and the dedicated staff of SAKSHI- here is a report on the occasion –
New Delhi, 5 March 2018;
New Delhi-based PHD House, today witnessed, children of NGO Sakshi, giving testimony by paying Homage to the river Ganges through a soulful act entitled ‘Namami Gange’ at the Curtain Raiser of the Women Car Rally to be held by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the end of this month, where SAKSHI is on-board as the NGO Partner because of their body of work in women’s empowerment and this rally too is a step towards women’s empowerment.
The girls from Girl Education Project from SAKSHI performed a dance ballet, choreographed and trained by Guru Rashmi Raut Jaiswal of the Natyakalp Institute of Performing Arts. The performance began with a Ganpati stuti to praise the lord and seek his blessing and then an ode to river Ganga for everything that it has given us and an apology for mankind’s wrong doings and degradation of environment. The performance is based on Clean Ganga — paying homage to the river.
Sakshi Ngo’s work under the presidency of Dr Mridula Tandon, in the field of women empowerment is extensive and acknowledged by all in their field, right from educating girls, providing them vocational skills, to manning the women’s helpline number 181 and in partnership with Delhi commission for women, advisory to Govt organisations on prevention of sexual harassment at the work place. Sakshi is working to better women’s life in all spheres of life.
The Curtain Raiser: PHD Chamber Women Car Rally 2018, organised by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the PHD House was well attended by leading women diplomats, bureaucrats, entrepreneurs and leaders in corporates. It was graced by Ms. Bani Yadav, Indian woman car rallyist, India’s ace women rally driver, Motorsports promotor and social rights supporter and Dr. Niharika Yadav, India’s fastest lady super biker along with Mr. Kapil Dev, Chairman, Sports & Youth Affairs Committee, PHD Chamber among others.
As the year 2017 has been an epitome of women achievers and keeping the spirit of supporting and highlighting their achievements, the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry are organizing this women-only Car Rally this year to highlight the women achievers. Fueling the fire in their bellies, the rally will be a two-day affair starting on March 30th from Delhi to Jaipur on March 30th; and the following day on March 31st, it will continue to Sambhar Salt lake (India’s largest inland salt water lake) and returning to Delhi. The event that is likely to become an annual event is being launched with this cultural evening here. During the program, aspiring drivers and the press were briefed about the challenges of this event that is expecting attention from regional, national and international press and participants.
The Rally will be flagged-off from Delhi, after formal documentation and scrutiny of the vehicles by a group of highly qualified technicians and rally marshals. The women-only rally will test them for time, speed, and distance (TSD) on non-cumulative basis.
Sports is the best way to highlight the capabilities and skills of women in every other field and giving them an opportunity to race on the roads in a field full of their own kind will definitely boost their confidence and bring out their competitive spirit.”
The official motto of this rally that commemorates the International Women’s Day is to recognize the selfless efforts of women from all occupations — women in corporate world, elite international & national businesswomen, women in the forces, women diplomats, leading women bureaucrats & government officials.
The Rally is primarily being organized to aid the Women empowerment causes – Women safety, Health, Reduce Infant Mortality, preventing child marriage, employment for Women, to promote Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative; to spread Breast Cancer awareness through awareness campaigns en-route and to boost participation of Women in Motorsports.
Participation in the rally is kept affordable and easy, allowing men to assist women drivers as their navigators – if need be. the rally is to be a fun event
as the route will include rallying through heritage sites, sand dunes, canals & lakes etc. with fun & team-building activities en-route. Winners will be judged in two categories – professional and novice; with prize for first 5 positions that will include trophy and gifts.
