•     Sakshi – Centre for Information, Education and Communication – is a non-profit voluntary organization registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, & Section 80G of the “Income Tax Act”. Founded in 1993 by Dr. Mridula Satish Tandon, to address the rampant health epidemics and high mortality rate in urban slums, establishing the Health Project which provides medical services and Water, Hygiene and Sanitation Project which builds sanitation facilities. She worked diligently to expand Sakshi’s offerings, developing project partnerships with global organizations e.g. UN, WHO, Government agencies & private foundations e.g. Room to Read.
  •       Sakshi’s centres comprehensively equip those in need with health, education & employable skills so they attain socio-economic independence & a life of dignity for themselves, their families and future generations. Sakshi’s projects open the door to Primary Education for unreached children, mainstream marginalized street children into Secondary Education, empower low-literate youth with Vocational Training and socio-economic independence, provide Health services, and develop communities through Poverty Alleviation and Women’s Empowerment and Girl Child Upliftment.
  •       Sakshi has been adjudged best in class by the Ministry of Education. It has been a subject of documentaries and its executives have spoken on national channels like Zee, ETV, Doordarshan, CNBC. Sakshi’s project partners span the list from UN, WHO, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Environment, Rose Foundation, Citibank, IBM etc. Sakshi is also a fieldwork partner for universities and international organizations like Jamia Milia, IGNOU, SUAS Ireland etc and has hosted visits from distinguished luminaries like US Global Ambassador for Women’s Issues Ms. Melanne Verveer, Princess Alexandra of Denmark, John Woods, CEO, Room to Read, Virat Kohli, Indian National Cricket Team Member etc.
  •       Dr. Tandon is a distinguished Medical Professional and Investor, Eminent Social Worker in Poverty Alleviation, Girl Child Upliftment and Women’s Empowerment and Gender-based Social Issues. She’s also a dedicated Philanthropist and Prize-winning Amateur Golfer
  •       Dr. Mridula Tandon earned her degree at the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, where she was one of only twenty female students in a batch of 100+. She worked at top-notch hospitals like Army R&R, Lady Hardinge Hospital and Kalavati Saran Children’s Hospital, before establishing private practice and becoming medical advisor to national organizations like LIC, BHEL, Indian Airlines. Dr. Tandon then invested in a chain of health clinics which sparked a 30 year+ career as a businesswoman/investor in finance, real estate and start-ups.
  •       In 1993, Dr. Tandon co-founded Sakshi NGO along with Dr D, Anand, (The first President of SAKSHIto address the rampant health epidemics and high mortality rate in urban slums, establishing the Health Project which provides medical services and Water, Hygiene and Sanitation Project which builds sanitation facilities. She worked diligently to expand Sakshi’s offerings, developing project partnerships with global organizations e.g. UN, WHO, Government agencies & private foundations e.g. Room to Read.
  •       Dr. Tandon is widely recognized for her social work and expertise. She is a much-sought consultant & member of Internal Complaint Committees at prestigious organizations like IGNOU, Sports Authority of India and National Council of Teacher Education, and others. She is a member of the “High Level Expert Committee”, 2014, to select the winner of CSIR Award for S&T Innovations for Rural Development (CAIRD).
